Teaching at Achievement First
Achievement First invites passionate educators to apply for the position of Small Class Special Education Literacy Specialist for the 2017-2018 school year. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate special educator to have a significant impact on students with disabilities.  Teaching at Achievement First is an ideal position for an educator with deep passion for instruction who is eager to gain rigorous development to help perfect his/her craft. In addition to participating in weekly professional development and team planning meetings, teachers receive consistent high-impact coaching and feedback from a school administrator or teacher-leader.

Special Education at Achievement First
Achievement First is committed to achieving excellence and equity for all students. Education systems, including the charter sector, have long strived to effectively educate our hardest-to-serve students. Achievement First is deeply committed to serving all students – and to leading in the sector on this front.

AF’s core continuum of meaningful inclusion (ICT), targeted intervention and remediation, and specialized instruction (SETSS) to access grade level curriculum is effective for the vast majority of scholars. Despite the strengths in our core special education program, we believe we can do more to serve scholars with a wider range of needs, and we have an opportunity to provide a more specialized program.  We are thrilled that families of students with more significant disabilities are entrusting us with their students’ education – and we are improving our ability to provide the kind of tailored educational program they require.

As such, we are redefining what students with more significant academic and learning needs can achieve by providing rigorous, small class environments that lead to extraordinary results for students. We are expanding our successful small class program into a full Comprehensive Academy and we are looking for passionate teachers who are committed to providing life-changing opportunities for students with disabilities.
